Are you anti-aging or pro-aging?

Anti-aging focuses on delaying, preventing, and stopping aging with creams, elixirs, serums, treatments, and procedures. Anti-aging perpetuates the idea that we must look young forever.

Pro-aging means accepting aging without stress, worry, or rejection. It celebrates aging, which is actually the most healthy way to approach the inevitable. Pro-aging should not be confused with letting yourself go and not taking care of yourself; it approaches aging in a more holistic way, taking care of your body, mind, and soul.

As an Esthetician, my focus is on keeping the skin looking as healthy and young as possible. Iā€™m all for correcting and preventing aging, and why not take advantage of new technology and scientific advances to age gracefully. I always remind my clients that having a good attitude toward aging is the best thing you can do for yourself rather than trying to fight an absolutely natural process. Trying desperately to hold on to our youth will only bring more stress, accelerating the aging process.

But is aging really that bad? Well, that depends on your relationship with age and how you age. In our society, the idea of aging has become terrifying for many. Anti-aging signs are everywhere, and we are so focused on not aging that it has become an obsession.

Remember that the aging process begins at conception and accelerates when you take your first breath of oxygen. Aging is so natural, so embrace it. If you notice yourself getting older, be happy because this only means you have been fortunate enough to live a long life.
